ok.. i previously posted guides on how to install garmin on old symbian OS and papago X5 on android.. and now, here is how to do so to install papago M9 on android devices.
I tested this and it works on my Unrooted Stock ROM Samsung Note 2 International version (N7100) running on Jellybeans 4.1.1
First thing first, you need to download this 2 files.
File 1: WinRAR to extract the files because i used WinRAR to compress the files.
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
You do not need this if u know how to extract RAR files.
File 2: Program Files.
[Link Removed]
File 3: Map Files (updated to MFM 5th December 2012 map data, latest version at the time of this guide writting)
http://www.mediafire.com/?qt2monusjz6zawa
Step 1 : extract File 2 and File 3
Step 2 : Copy the map (The entire “MFM-PPG-X8-X9-121205” folder from File 3) into NaviSEA\Maps (From File 2)
Step 3 : Copy the entire folder NaviSEA into the root directory of your android phone’s internal storage (root not meaning rooted phones, but the base of the internal storage)
Step 4 : Browse to the NaviSEA directory from your phone. you can use the “my files” application or other 3rd party file explorer application such as root explorer (which is the one i used)
Step 5 : Run the application Navitotal! M9SEA.apk.
You might need to allow the phone to install from non-market apps. To do so, go to settings –> Security->Unknown Sources
thats it. if you find the screen funny you may want to install the second file, M9SEA v2.0.apk
do note, that for my phone, the resolution is a bit out, such as the screen shot below:
You will need additional resolution files. for example, in my case, the Samsung note 2 which uses resolution of 1280x720 and 720x1280. You can get the resolution files here: http://goo.gl/tmROh
Thats it! if you ever need to update your map, just go to http://www.malfreemaps.com
The additional data that you need download is called Organic Files for the 1280X720 resolution : http://goo.gl/tmROh
ReplyDeletefrom http://english.wanwidget.com/tutorial-install-papago-m9-android-malaysia/
hey anonymous.. THANKS! it worked. i will update my installation files to have 1280x720 and 720x1280 resolution files..
ReplyDeleteHi, I know I’m asking a stupid question here, but I how to i move the NaviSEA folder to the root directory of my Nexus 7 v4.2.1? Do I need to root the device first?
ReplyDeleteI tried using Astro File Manager but it says I get an error msg “Could not write file”.
Appreciate the help in advance!
No worries. There's nothing called stupid question. What I meant by root directory means the first level of a directory. For example root directory of your pc c drive will be c:\ and not c:\windows\
ReplyDeleteNo need for root access.
What I did was connect my phone via usb to pc and copy the files to internal storage.
Thanks for the reply. I did the same thing. When I connect the N7 to my computer, the lowest directory that I can go from Windows Explorer is the "Internal Storage" which is the in-build cd card.
ReplyDeleteHowever, when I use Root Explorer (on the N7) to move the folder to the root folder "/", it give me an error that says and any changed to / directory must first have the device rooted.
Have u solved your problem yet?
DeleteGreat stuff and thank you very much. I had search a few website but none of them had a simple guide like yours. (some had incomplete file download/multiple join file require which annoying)
ReplyDeletei downloaded the file, combine the map and transfer to phone, setup and wala it works very fine.
FYI: For Sony ion phone, the resolution default is not fit like the sample you showed, but i had migrate another resolution file into organic folder and it works just fine. (720x1280 & 1280x720)
my S2 works just fine without the above resolution file.
im sorry but i cnt read my maps...it says 'can not open maps'?? any help please.
ReplyDeletetry upload the maps folder again, make sure your maps in one folder under the subdir MAPS .. like this \NaviSEA\Maps\MFM-PPg-X8-X9-121205
ReplyDeleteWhere's 121205 represent the latest Maps i got rite now... MFM will update it maps on monthly basis (1st week of the month only)..so feel free to download it from MFM webs.
Thanks for Organic files.. downloading it now.
Thanks for the tips. But you do not need to follow mfm naming format. Whatever folder name will do as long as it's on the maps folder.
DeleteI managed to install and every went well. Except that when I launch the application, it has no sound. Any idea? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSame here. NO SOUND/Voice

DeleteFile 2 cannot download? File removed.
ReplyDeleteim using a nexus 7 , when i want to use the papago, it appear this " UNFORTUNATELY , NAVITOTAL! HAS STOPPED" please help me solve it, thank you
ReplyDeleteTo those who us v4.2.1 and above don't bother to try M9 to save your time as it doesn't work - trust me. If you want use M11 instead as proven it work on many models and brands that is running v4.2 and above. I have tried it on xperia zl with resolution of 1920X1080. Google around and you will find it.
DeleteY all setting menu word and road names become blank
ReplyDeletethe root folder of your phone is / but for the storage where you've used for the maps are located at /storage/emulated/0/ or /storage/emulated/legacy/ or the symlinked folder /storage/sdcard0 (for most aosp based android device).
ReplyDeleteThe second link in your post is removed. May i know how can i get the link?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
